Day of the Dead - 10 day tour in Oaxaca

Oaxaca is a magical place to experience the celebrations of The Day of the Dead. The emphasis of this trip is to enjoy every opportunity to be part of the communities in their celebrations. We will spend nights in candlelight graveyards, which we can do sympathetically contributing with our candles, flowers and mezcal.

Oaxaca is a cultural centre with many beautiful churches. The markets are vibrant, and at this time filled with marigolds and artefacts for the festival. The preparation and the lead up of events are numerous. The procession of the children in Halloween clothes, the concerts in the churches, the altars in the streets and hotels and restaurants and galleries. There are many art galleries boasting the highly varied and talented local artists. The Textile Museum has a wonderful collection and a reference library. Oaxaca has a wealth of the most amazing restaurants, with a wide choice of innovative places. There are many archaeological sites surrounding Oaxaca. These can be visited during the free time you will have. We will be concentrating on Day of the Dead with all the artist and artisan activities at this time. There are many interesting artists living in Oaxaca who will join us during our time. Please contact hilary@hilarysimon.com for a full itinerary.
